The music and entertainment portal “Starbom” supported the large-scale premiere of the Ukrainian singer and songwriter Astrid Way – the single and clip “Butterflies”. The editorial staff of the publication called the artist’s new work a real “hymn to the freedom of the Ukrainian spirit”.

Journalists noted the bold genre decision of the release, sustained in the best traditions of classic blues and old-school rock. As “Starbom” notes, the song contains a deep metaphor about every person who is looking for their own path and fighting for the right to be free. The image of a butterfly locked in a glass jar has become the main symbol of unspoken dreams and hidden fears, which the heroes of the clip ultimately dare to destroy in order to release their true “selves” into the wild.

Special attention is paid in the material to the difficult trials on the set, which the team overcame under the leadership of director Ivan Chernyshov. Despite the fact that Astrid Way broke her leg right before filming, the creative process did not stop. The band’s musicians worked out the first block of scenes on their own, demonstrating incredible unity, and the shots with the singer were released later. The journalists also paid attention to the behind-the-scenes exotic flavor – the participation in the filming of a giant butterfly named “Dracula”.

However, the most important and most difficult emotional accent of the publication “Starbom” was the social context of the video. This clip became the last lifetime work for the band’s bassist, a talented musician Dmitry Tikhanovych. Immediately after filming, Dmitry returned to the front line to defend Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in the spring of 2026 he heroically died in battle. The video work “Butterflies” became a manifesto of memory of him and thousands of other Ukrainian heroes.

“This is a powerful artistic and human dedication to those who gave their lives for our freedom, a reminder that every moment of life is priceless,” the publication emphasizes.
