Premiere of the video “World of Dreams” by singer Astrid Way – how Nosferatu and Dracula lost the battle with light
“World of Dreams” – a story about the union of Anima and Animus in the video of Astrid Way
On February 1, 2025, Ukrainian singer and songwriter Astrid Way presented her new video work for the song “World of Dreams” with the support of director Ivan Chernyshov.
The song “World of Dreams” tells about the importance of maintaining internal balance and harmony between the masculine and feminine principles that are in each of us. And conveying this concept on the screen became an interesting and unexpectedly difficult task for the team.
“At first, I wanted to create something in the style of my favorite film “Bram Stoker’s Dracula”, something gothic and dark. But while working on the song, I began to feel worse and worse because of this desire, and I realized that the video should be light. Well, on the day of filming, the whole universe was just screaming at me – no vampires and evil. This should be a victory of good and light,” Astrid Way shared.
The fact is that on the day of filming the clip, which coincided with the autumnal equinox, the Astrid Way team faced a number of unforeseen difficulties.
Just before the start of filming, the singer’s car with the numbers “Astrid” unexpectedly broke down and boiled over, and soon exploded – a real special effects scene.
In addition, that day the forests were burning in the suburbs, and it was difficult to breathe because of the thick smoke. And when the film crew finally got to the studio, the whole room was in thick smoke – the special effects master had overdone it, so working on the clip was a bit difficult.
Nevertheless, despite these unforeseen obstacles, the filming did not stop, and the team created an unforgettable clip, full of emotions and energy.
“The concept of the clip is a meeting of two parts of each person, the inner woman and man, the Anima and the Animus. It is about how important it is for a person to have this inner balance between the feminine and the masculine, without which there is no sense of integrity. Dance should be inside us,” says singer Astrid Way.
An important component of the clip were professional dancers, including Vitaly Pastushenko and Olena Badzym, who amaze with their skill. Through dance, the artists conveyed this inner interaction between the feminine and the masculine, as the thoughts of the main character performed by Astrid Way.
The musical accompaniment of the clip was created with the participation of jazz pianist Yevgeny, who played an old piano, which added a special flavor to the clip.
Actor Sergey Donhauser also took part in the filming, appearing as an extra and a special effects master. The video was shot at the Pandora studio in Kyiv.
